My Internship Experience(BSCS-1A 2018-2019) Midterm Ojt

My Internship Experience

I am Gerald B. Tagle, a first year student taking Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. As I leave behind my shadow of being a freshmen student, my course was requiring me to take an internship was 200 hours. I am interning to XYMBOLIC IT SOLUTIONS PROVIDER CORP. It is an IT Company that provides various solutions in terms of computer technology environment such as selling computer components, installing CCTV’s, PABX, repairs and many more.  I started my OJT at Xymbolic on June 14, 2019 and I was assigned at the admin office along with my co-OJT for the first week under the supervision of Mam Flerry Danoog, HRM.

On my first week I started working with some office works, such as organizing folders and contents of sub-least contract of the company, compiling the receipts from the selling department. I had experienced depositing a large amount of money, it was a bit exciting and nervous. I also did some inventory check of goods at the stock room. In the office, I learned that office work must be on-time to finish because of due dates coming to you especially for a business deal and everything should be organize
On my second week, I was assigned at Action Lab under the supervision of Mam Ruby, our Supervisor. The lab was where all of the repairing items will be repaired including laptops, desktops and printers. I experienced stratigical disassembling and assembling laptops and printers. I can say that analytical and strategy skills were most helpful ability in order to work out with the problem to be fixed.

On my third week, I was assigned at the Sales Department, under the supervision of Mam Noemi. I have experienced entertaining some customers and get their items. I also did an inventory: checking; restocking on the display items, putting warranty stickers; and carrying items for the customer.
My last week, I was designated at the warehouse, under the supervision of Mam Farrah. It was the most tiring area because every time there’s a delivery a lot of boxes of computer components were being stacked, and on my part, I help in stacking those boxes accordingly to its type. Because of my knowledge in computer components it makes so much easier to me what are those things, where to find it and arranged it.
At first, I thought it was a hasty step to take on-the- Job training compared to other courses that usually you would take on fourth year for your final requirements along with your thesis project. But I realized that this is an opportunity to be exposed in the real world outside the school where you will learn through books and teaching. I know that 200 hours is not enough to fully understand the real situation in the real world, but this will be an extraordinary experience for me to slowly understand and learn from it for the future of my course, O-J-T and job. I am thankful for this On-the-job training as I learned so many things about the real world environment.
